Linda R. Johnson, 62, of Cloquet passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, with her family by her side and surrounded by close friends. Linda was born July 14, 1945, in Tamaqua, Pa., to Harry and Helen (Zeird) Houtz. Linda was raised in Tamaqua and graduated from Tamaqua High School. While visiting family in Germany she met David Johnson who was serving in the Army. They were married June 18, 1965, and they came to Minnesota in January of 1966. She was employed by the Cloquet Pine Knot newspaper for 25 years. Linda enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and especially traveling. She was a member of the Big Lake Golf Club, playing in a couples league and a women's league. She had a unique friendship and involvement with the Dominican Republic people.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Ronald Heisler, father-in-law Kenneth Johnson, sister-in-law Nancy Houtz, daughter-in-law Rita Johnson and nieces Pamela and Karen.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Dana (Kevin) Erkkila; son, David "Bucky" (Jenny St. Germain); grandchildren, Heather and Ryan Erkkila and Dillon Johnson; brothers, Paul, Dick (Claudia) and Lee (Joyce) Houtz; sister, Sally Hagen; brother-in-law, Duane (Marilyn) Johnson; many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cloquet. A lunch followed the service in the church fellowship hall. Private family interment will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery.
