What are the suspicious liquid trails on Highway 210?

To the Editor:

Either I'm losing my mind or I am seeing the remains of some sort of illegal chemical dumping on Highway 210 between the casino and McGregor.

Over several years I have noticed a "trail" of some chemical, usually down the center of either lane that continues for miles. Twice I have noticed a white paint-like substance on the westbound lane that ended somewhere near McGregor. This past weekend, there was an oily substance in the eastbound lane that stretched for at least five miles and ended near Iverson. It would take a substantial amount of liquid to leave trails this long. It looks like a valve on a tanker truck is being left open to drain on the highway while it is moving. Could this possibly be illegal dumping of some liquid material that would otherwise cost to dispose of? I urge anyone to report this sort of activity to the local authorities.
