To the Editor:
Yes, that's right, we better wake up! We keep voting for the same old people in our state, county, and local offices because we are lazy. Too lazy to find out what they are really doing. While they campaign on nothing specific or in many cases on nothing but party affiliation or the good old boy network, we go on with our busy lives taking comfort in the false notion that their doing a good job.
The reality is you are being "robbed blind." While you're not paying attention they are increasing government spending beyond your ability to pay for it.
Yes, they always have a good reason to spend your money, but so do you. Your income goes up 3 percent a year while government rises 5 percent or 8 percent or even more each year. After years of this you are way behind.
Don't our elected officials get it! They are supposed to represent us!
We need to wake up and make voting and understanding the issues a higher priority in our busy lives or we will find we're all in the same mess our neighbors in Duluth find themselves in with years of overspending and taxes out of control. All because the voters didn't pay attention to the people they were voting for, if they bothered to vote at all.
We have a clear choice to make in one of those critical decision in the race for State House District 8A by electing a candidate that believes in "limited government spending." Tim Hafvenstein will vote to keep government out of your pocket book, every time.
