Residential landlords and community members are invited to learn more housing and home environmental issues at a 10 a.m. meeting Tuesday, April 18, in the Fireside Room at Aspen Arms, 950 14th St., Cloquet.
The Cloquet Housing & Redevelopment Authority (CHRA) welcomes experts in indoor air quality, fire safety, and local regulation for rental housing properties. Kelly Smeltzer from the Minnesota Department of Health will present "Mold in Homes" and discuss the identification, health effects, causes, inspection, and remediation of residential moisture issues. Sarah Buhs of the Cloquet Area Fire District will present home safety information on radon gas, smoke alarm placement and maintenance, and carbon dioxide detectors. Matt Munter, city inspector for the city of Cloquet will also be on hand to give an overview of local rental codes and answer questions.
