The last couple of games have been tough on the Cloquet girls basketball team. The Jacks fell on Saturday to Crosby-Ironton 58-35 and then on Tuesday they hit the road and lost a heartbreaker to Superior50-42.
On the road in Superior the Jacks trailed by just two points at the intermission break, but the Spartans were able to maintain their lead over the second half and win the game at the free throw line. Superior was 17-for-21 from the line while the Jacks were 7-for-11. Cloquet made one more shot from the field than did the Spartans as the Jacks hit for 17 field goals to 16 for Superior.
Kami Diver finished with 15 points to lead the Jacks in scoring, Laura Wappes, Nishah Dupuis and Hannah Roy all finished with six points, Jes Vork scored five and Taylor Sautbine added four points.
The Jacks had trouble containing Lindsey Lindstrom who led all scorers with 22 points.
- On Saturday Cloquet was beaten 58-35 by the Crosby-Ironton Rangers in a game that no Lumberjack player hit double figure scoring.
Diver led the Jacks with nine, Ashton Johnson and Wappes both scored eight, Vork finished with three, it was two each for Roy, Sautbine and Jill Rosenthal and Dupuis added a single tally.
The Rangers had a strong overall attack with 11 different players scoring led by the 13 points of Annie Adams and 11 points of Megan Zilmer.
