Megan Myhre didn't miss a beat in her move from basketball to softball. After helping to lead the Bomber basketball team to a school record for wins in the regular season, the junior helped to power her softball team to a 9-1 win over Carlton.

In her seven innings of work Myhre allowed one run and struck out seven as the Bombers picked up the Polar League win.

"We are awfully young and have five junior high girls in our starting lineup," explained Barnum coach Randy Myhre. "Megan pitched well and Hannah (Wekseth) did a great job behind the plate."

Wekseth led the offense with a 2-for-2 day that included a double, two walks and three stolen bases.

"We have a lot of work to do," suggested Myhre. "The team is very enthusiastic and with a season of work and experience, we could be a threat to upset a good team in the playoffs."

Meanwhile, Carlton is under the guidance of first-year coach Jill Mundell, after the Bulldogs split with their longtime pairing and sharing partner Wrenshall.

"Jill is doing a great job at Carlton," exclaimed Myhre. "Jill's team is looking very good for a first-year program. She is very knowledgeable, and with time and experience Carlton will be a very good softball team."

Monday night, the Bombers romped to a pair of easy wins over McGregor by scores of 10-0 and 23-5 behind the pitching of sisters Megan and Katie Myhre.

In the 10-0 win, Megan Myhre pitched a complete game one-hitter with no walks and Hannah Wekseth reached base three times with a pair of walks and a hit.

The 23-5 romp saw the game end in four innings with Katie Myhre pitching all four and Wekseth pounding out four hits including a double. Wekseth also scored four times in the game.
