A 19-year-old man from Kettle River drowned Monday in Elbow Lake in Finlayson.
The victim, Benjamin Whipple, was swimming when he went under and did not resurface, according to the Pine County Sheriff's Office. Deputies spoke with the people who were swimming with Whipple near an address on Elbow Shore Lane.
Finlayson Fire Department and St. Louis County Search and Rescue also responded to the drowning. His body was recovered Monday evening.
