Judith "Judie" Ann Ness, 67, of Bemidji, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at her home after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born June 22, 1939, in Cloquet, the daughter of Irving and Mildred Nelson. She was raised and educated in the Cloquet area. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1957 and also from the Minnesota School of Business. Judie married Ron E. Ness in 1988 in Duluth and they moved to Bemidji in 1994. Judie worked her entire career as a medical secretary for the Duluth Clinic and later for Meritcare Clinic when they moved to Bemidji. She retired in 2001. Judie enjoyed living life in the country with all her animals. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at several local charities. Judie was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend with a smile and laugh that could light up any room. She loved all animals, especially her pets. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Ness of Bemidji; two children, Jill Tanttari and Jeff Tanttari, both of Duluth; stepchildren, Renee (Rudie) Senich of Duluth, Robbie (Mark) Bartholomew of North St. Paul and Roxanne Boege of California; many grandchildren; her sister, Jan (Jim) Busenius of Rochester, Minn.; and nephews, Brad and Brian Busenius of Chicago.
Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 12, from 4-7 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. Visitation resumed Saturday, Jan. 13, from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral serve at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji with the Rev. Steve Trandem officiating. Casketbearers were Bob Ness, Bud Ness, Marvin Lawyer, Jerry Starkey, Brad and Brian Busenius.
Memorials are preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church, Beltrami Humane Society or the Bemidji Area Food Shelf.
