John H. Langenbrunner, 80, of Cloquet, Minn., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at his home. He was born in Cloquet on May 19, 1928, and retired from the Army National Guard as a CW4 after serving over 39 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grand...

John H. Langenbrunner, 80, of Cloquet, Minn., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at his home. He was born in Cloquet on May 19, 1928, and retired from the Army National Guard as a CW4 after serving over 39 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John was an avid hockey fan who loved to follow his granchildren's activities.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; his wife of 50 years, Carol; his twin grandsons, Justin and Eric; and brothers, Don and Larry.

He is survived by his children, John (Chris Olafson), Jim (Betty), Joan (Jon) Sokol, Jerry (Julie), Jeff and Julie (Rob) Wolleat; 13 grandchildren, Jamie (Liz), Shane, Ryan (Ashley Johnson), Matthew, Krista, Amanda, Angela (Garrett Welfare), Erin (Britan Smith), Lindsey (Jerimiah Johnson), Lloyd (Lynn) Hilsgen, Kara (Matt) Sylvester, Jennifer, and Becky (Tim Schmidt); brothers, Bill (Pat), Ray (Bev) and Bob (Jan); sister, Mary Ziegler; sisters-in-law, Barb Langenbrunner, Marlene Erickson and Lorraine Manty; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet. Visitation continued Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet.
