Jill Ann Boyat, 39, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minn., after a long battle with cancer, in the loving embrace of family and friends. She was born March 16, 1968, in Duluth to Ronald and Marion (McMillen) Scott. After graduating from Denfeld High School in 1986, she attended the University of Minnesota- Duluth where she earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both psychology and criminology. From 1990 to 2001 she worked for Carlton County Sheriff's Department as both a correctional officer and deputy. In 2001, Jill went on to receive a master's degree in K-12 school counseling and began work as a child protection officer for the Carlton County Department of Public Health and Human Services. She ended her dedicated career as the family/ school support worker for both Esko and Cromwell schools. Jill's dedication to both her children, and the children of others, shined through in every aspect of her life. Her unwavering devotion to the less fortunate along with her warm, personal approach to each and every one of her families, earned the respect of her peers, and the admiration of her clients. Above all, Jill was a caring and loving mother of three; a wife, whose family took priority over all other concerns in her life; a person, who, during her most painful moments, thought only of her children, and their fears and worries.

Jill is survived by her husband, Kyle; three children, Meagan, Ian and Hannah; her parents, Ronald and Marion Scott of Duluth; one brother, Jeff (Cindy) Scott of Alborn; two sisters, Glenda Scott of Duluth and Sherri (Eric) Blesener of Cloquet; and several nieces and nephews.
