The Lake Superior Conference Nordic Ski Meet Friday yielded some fine performances from the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys and girls teams.

Neysa Granholm who finished in third place led the girls, Alyssa Michaelson was fifth, Linda Tierney took sixth, Kelsey Mudek was eighth and Jessica Gable finished 10th. Rounding out the varsity squad were Molly Meysembourg and Ariane Norrgard who finished 14th and 15th, respectively.

"I was very pleased with how our boys and girls skied in the meet," said coach Shaleen Christianson. "Overall our girls placed first and the boys placed third - and the boys were missing their top skier, Raleigh Goessling, who is in Germany skiing for the Junior World Biathlon."

For the boys, Matt Palmquist finished fifth and Sam Cook took eighth place. Rounding out the scoring were Taylor Nordval and Alex Goebel.

  • The Lake Superior Conference named their All-Conference selections this week and the CEC girls had five players named to the team while the boys had two skiers make the squad.

Neysa Granholm, Alyssa Michaelson, Jessica Gable, Kelsey Mudek and Linda Tierney were named to the girls team and Matt Palmquist and Sam Cook were named to the boys team.
