It's been a bumpy ride for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys tennis team this season. At times the team has been extremely impressive and at others they've had trouble picking up a win.
On Monday night, the Jacks fell to Duluth East 7-0, Friday it was a 6-1 win over Aitkin and on Thursday it was a 6-1 loss to Superior.
"East was the best team we've faced so far," said CEC coach Steve Rickstrom. "We knew they would be tough after playing them last year."
The Jacks did have a couple of close matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles where the CEC duos of Tim Scheuer and Adam Isakson and Nathan Blascyk and Colton Roy fell to their opponents. Scheuer and Isakson lost 6-4, 6-3 to Josh Sande and Dan Schoen while Roy and Blascyk fell 6-2, 7-6 to Andy Welinski and John Ondich-Batson.
At No. 1 doubles the CEC team of Derek Johnson and Cody Zack also played well, but lost 6-2, 6-3 to Jared Muskovitz and Matt Haloverson.

"It was a nice win over Aitkin after a disappointing loss to Superior," commented Rickstrom. "Roy gutted out a tough three set win for us and we are experimenting a little bit with our doubles line up."
- Last Thursday against Superior the Jacks fell 6-1 to Superior with the lone victory coming from Colton Roy and Nathan Blascyk at No. 2 doubles.
