Investigators have ruled that a Cloquet house fire today was arson.
The fire at 1566 Whispering Pine Drive was reported around 7 a.m. and caused an estimated $80,000 in damages.
"There was considerable interior damage, but they got in and put the fire out really quickly," Cloquet fire investigator Capt. Gordy Meagher said.
The house was vacant, but people were going to move in this week, he said.
Evidence collected at the scene "dictates that this is clearly an arson fire," Meagher said.

Officials are continuing to investigate the fire. Meagher asked anyone with information on the arson to call the Cloquet Police Department at 879-1247 or the Fond du Lac Tribal Police Department at 878-8040.
