A strong first half and an ability to repel the Bemidji Lumberjacks' second half comeback were enough to give the Cloquet Lumberjacks a 64-60 boys basketball win on Friday night.
Andy Kochneff with 22 points, Ryan Erkkila with 18 points and Justin Schmitz with 12 points helped lead the Jacks to the win.
Cloquet took a 34-24 halftime lead, but the small difference in the game was in the statistics. The Jacks made four fewer shots from the field then Bemidji, but Cloquet made four three-pointers to offset the difference. At the free-throw line the Lumberjacks had a 14-for-26 effort which was just enough to give them the margin of victory.
Ryan Lindstrom added eight points in a solid effort for the Jacks and Cory Koning scored four points to round out the scoring for Cloquet.
Andrew Hengel led Bemidji with 20 points, but he was their only player in double-digits.
