Highway 27 construction will cause a detour west of Moose Lake to begin this month, with road closures extending from Carlton County Road 12 to Highway 73.

The detour is set to last from July 12 until Aug. 7, during which time only local traffic will be allowed access to the closure areas, according to a news release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists should also expect one lane flagging operations in other areas of the work zone.

The project as a whole is expected to be completed in September and includes pavement resurfacing and culvert repairs along the highway.
