Hazel Marie Johnson, 79, of Barnum died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in Mercy Health Care Center in Moose Lake. Hazel was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Carlton to Thomas and Ruth (Theiling) Rice. She was raised and attended school in the Wrenshall area. On March 9, 1950, Hazel married Carl E. Johnson in Superior and later farmed with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Barnum Senior Center, 4-H program, Guernsey Breeders Association, and the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and it's Ladies Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl.

Hazel is survived by one son, Glenn (Deb) Johnson of Claremont, Minn.; one daughter, Lila (Ralph) Keutzer of Prairie City, Iowa; two sisters, Genieve Laubach of Wrenshall and Violet (Tom) McNiel of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 18, from 5-7 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet, and continued Friday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Barnum. Burial was in Mount Salem Cemetery in Mahtowa.
