The Cloquet City Council selected three candidates to interview for its city administrator position during a work session Tuesday, Oct. 15.
The candidates — Thomas Glover, Alan Lanning and Tim Peterson — will have the option to interview for their position in person or by video chat, but they will need to pay their own expenses to attend the first round of interviews in Cloquet.
Glover was the director of community development for Walla Walla County, Wash., until he was dismissed in July from the position — a job he had held in one form or another since 2007 — according to the Walla Walla Union Bulletin.
Lanning has been the city administrator or manager for a number for a number of other communities in Colorado, South Dakota and Lake City, Minn., and most recently in Cordova, Alaska. The Cordova City Council chose not to renew Lanning’s contract in August, according to the Cordova Times.
Peterson — the only local candidate selected by the city — is the city administrator for Moose Lake and executive director of the city’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Previously, he worked as a clerk and city accountant for Proctor. He has worked in Moose Lake since 2016.
Former city administrator Aaron Reeves left in September to take a similar position in Hudson, Wis. Reeves worked in Cloquet for less than two years.
