Carlton County resident Jeff Dotseth announced his candidacy for the 2020 Minnesota House of Representatives District 11A legislative seat Wednesday.
Rep. Mike Sundin, DFL-Esko, has represented the district since he was elected in 2012. Dotseth, a Republican, faced off against Sundin in the 2018 election, but lost with 41.6% of the votes.
Dotseth lives on a family farm in Kettle River and has worked in construction trades most of his life. He opened a real estate brokerage called Jeff Dotseth & Associates Realty Inc. and has been an active member and past president of the North Metro Realtors Association. He's also a member of the Government Affairs Committee for Realtors and the National Federation of Independent Businesses.
His experience working in real estate has led him to understand "the needs and challenges of small-business owners," according to the news release.
"Jeff is running to help restore proper priorities and common sense to state government and to help move beyond the gridlock that prevents meaningful progress from being made on important issues like health care, transportation and economic development," the news release states.
The election is Nov. 3, 2020.
