Cloquet City Hall hours are changing in an attempt to better accommodate residents schedules.

Interim City Administrator James Barclay proposed the change during the City Council work session Tuesday, Oct. 1.

City Hall will now be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a trial basis.

Barclay noted there are not fewer office hours, but the schedule is more in line with county offices.

At Large Councilor Lara Wilkinson said since she works in Duluth, it’s difficult for her to get back to Cloquet before the office closes without taking time off.

Several department heads at the meeting agreed during City Hall’s summer hours this year — 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Fridays — the office saw more traffic in the morning than from 4-5 p.m.
