Last call to file for candidates not in a primary

The filing period for all elected positions in the county — including townships, school districts and municipalities — without a primary election ends Tuesday, Aug. 14.

Carlton County Auditor Paul Gassert said candidates should file in person with the appropriate filing officer — usually a clerk — for cities, townships and school districts.

Several cities in Carlton County will elect a mayor and two council members: Barnum, Carlton, Cromwell, Kettle River, Moose Lake, Scanlon, Wrenshall and Wright.

School districts in Barnum, Carlton, Cloquet, Cromwell-Wright, Moose Lake, Esko and Wrenshall will elect three board members each.

Candidates can find election information at in the “Election Administration & Campaigns” section.
