Collectibles sale for MUSEUM DAY LIVE! at Carlton County Historical Society
The Carlton County Historical Society will open its doors free of charge on Saturday, September 24, 2016 as part of the Smithsonian magazine's twelfth annual Museum Day Live! On this day only, participating museums across the United States offer special events and join the Smithsonian in offering free museum admission for those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket.
The special event planned by the Carlton County Historical Society for Museum Day Live! is a Collectibles Sale at the museum from 9 am to 4 pm. The sale includes duplicates from the museum's historical collection, such as Mountie calendars, posters, books, booklets, photos, historical articles, maps, clothing, glassware, household items, and odds and ends.
The Museum Day Live! ticket is available for download at Smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live! ticket will be able to visit two participating places on Saturday, September 24. One ticket per household is permitted. Take advantage of this offer to visit the Carlton County Historical Society at 406 Cloquet Avenue in Cloquet, MN to browse the Collectables Sale and see the current exhibits on "The Power of Pins", "The Ojibwe of Carlton County", "The Logging Era", and "The Fires of 1918". Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
Without a Museum Day Live! ticket, regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 218-879-1938.
