Girl struck while biking in Cloquet

Her condition is unknown at this time, according to a news release.


A 13-year-old girl is in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Big Lake Road in Cloquet.

At 1:22 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, the Cloquet Police Department responded to a report of a bicyclist hit by a car at the intersection Big Lake Road and Trettle Lane, according to a news release from the police department.

Reports suggest three riders were crossing Big Lake Road when the vehicle hit the victim, the news release said.

The victim was treated by members of the Cloquet Area Fire District and was transported to Essential Hospital in Duluth. Her condition is unknown at this time, according to the news release.

The driver of the automobile, a 23-year-old woman, was not injured, and police do not believe she was impaired at the time of the crash, the news release said.


Authorities do not believe the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The incident is under investigation and the Minnesota State Patrol is reconstructing the scene. The Fond du Lac Police Department and Carlton County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene.
