B&B Market at 506 Big Lake Road in Cloquet has gas prices at $1.99 for regular and $2.49 a gallon for diesel, and residents are taking notice.
Owners John and Kim Lind said the gas pumps have been busier than usual.
“I don't remember the last time prices were below $2,” John Lind said.
He said prices are set according to the how much stations pay for the fuel when it’s delivered. Minnesota Law requires every place that sells gas to charge a minimum of 8 cents over the price they paid. There is no limit as to how high the stations can charge over the minimum.
Cloquet resident Robert Anderson often stops at the market for their meat selection and gas for his truck if he needs it.

“I have a big gas tank, so I don't usually fill it,” Anderson said. “But I will today.”
According to mn.gov , store owners can offer a special below the requirement for up to three days without being in violation of the law. A form is available online to report stores selling gas below the state requirement.
The online gas price search engine, GasBuddy, shows prices range from $1.70 per gallon to $2.19 across the state.
In the Cloquet area they range from $1.99-$2.04.
“I don't know how long it will last,” Lind said.
