Chris Nettleton has returned to Duluth as Fox 21's sports director and anchor.

Nettleton has six years of experience in sports broadcasting, including a year as sports director/anchor at WDIO Channel 10 in Duluth. He has also worked as a sports producer in Minneapolis and worked on-air at stations in Chattanooga, Tenn., Great Falls, Mont., and Missoula, Mont. He graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Nettleton's father is a native of Proctor, and Nettleton visited the Northland frequently while he grew up in the Twin Cities area.

"I like being in my home state, and I like talking about the teams that I grew up watching," Nettleton said.

In high school, Nettleton participated in several sports, including hockey and football.

"I found out I would be much more skilled at talking about sports than actually participating," he said.

However, Nettleton still plays hockey and joked, "If anyone needs a goalie, they can contact me."

Nettleton and his wife, Megan, live in Duluth.

Nettleton joins anchor/reporters Amy Rutledge and Nick LaFave and chief meteorologist Todd Nelson on the anchor set. Nettleton will anchor the sports segment on FOX 21 News at 9 Monday through Friday. Jenn O'Neill will continue to anchor sports on Sundays and report during the week.

FOX 21's "Great Outdoors" report, which airs Tuesdays on FOX 21 News at 9, will also be reported by Nettleton.

Nettleton replaces Randy Howe, who moved to Las Vegas to be closer to family.
