Fourth Fest activities set for Friday

The city of Cloquet has a full slate of family activities planned for Friday’s Fourth Fest celebration. The Sawdust 5K race will start out the day at 8 a.m. The event takes place in Pinehurst Park and is sponsored by Leno Chiropractic Clinic.
The Veterans Celebration Parade starts at 11 a.m. in downtown Cloquet, and carnival rides by Stipes Shows are set up in Voyageurs Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 4-6.
The Farmers Market will be open in downtown Cloquet on Friday from 9 a.m. until sellout, and the Cloquet Area Fire District will hold an open house at its Station 1 (downtown) location after the parade.
The Carlton County Historical Society will host an accordion concert at 4 p.m., and the museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Northeastern Saloon and Grill will be the site of the Fourth of July Car Show from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and a pool party will take place at The Beach in Pinehurst Park from 2-4 p.m.
Available on Friday in Veterans Park will be food vendors, a beer tent, a craft show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., bingo from 12:30-4 p.m., a patriotic music concert by the Cloquet Community Band, wiffle ball competition from 12:30-4 p.m., a Dash for Cash at 1 p.m., skateboard demonstrations at 1:30 p.m., pony rides from noon to 4 p.m., bouncy castles and a blow-up climbing wall from noon to 5 p.m., face painting from 1-4 p.m., and wagon rides between Veterans Park, the carnival and the swimming pond.
The Amazing Charles will present a magic show at 7 p.m. in Veterans Park, and there will be live music from 3-8 p.m. A free outdoor showing of “Frozen” will take place at 8:45 p.m., followed by fireworks over the St. Louis river at approximately 10:10 p.m.
