More than 300 people braved the frigid weather Thursday, Jan. 17 to support Fond du Lac Tribal and Community Foundation's annual Food for Thought fundraiser.
The event raised over $25,000 for student scholarships at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, said Mary Soyring, a member of the foundation's board of directors.
A tasty array of culinary delights and Northland staples were available from 16 area vendors.
They included light and airy homemade marshmallow hearts dipped in chocolate sauce from Magnolia Cafe, a variety of flavors of ice cream sandwiches from the Warming House, blueberry and raspberry coffee scones from newcomer Bearaboo Coffee Escape, as well as Mom’s Best Baklava and assorted coffees from Common Grounds.
Tom Radovich was a first-time attendee. He said his favorite was the beef tenderloin with mushroom and red wine sauce from Jim & Jo’s.

Another first-time attendee, Bob Decaigny, said he was impressed with the event and liked several of the foods he sampled, including the beef tenderloin.
Several people said they liked the bison wild rice sliders with duck bacon, served on a toasted ciabatta roll from Seven Fires Steakhouse.
There were more traditional offerings such as chicken salad, seafood chowder, smoked fish, shrimp and lobster dip and more.
Attendees filled their plates and their stomachs with Thunder Poutine, cajun pasta and cauliflower rice with chicken and cleansed their palates with a sample of beer or wine from Cold One Liquor or Bent Paddle.
The wall of 100 bottles of donated wines sold out earlier than in previous years. Each bottle came with a gift card from an area vendor.
Jim & Jo’s was the winner of the Golden Spoon award and the Warming House won the Silver Spoon Dessert Award with their ice cream/waffle cone sandwiches.
