Fire destroys Cloquet garage, damages nearby home

No one was injured in the Saturday, July 3, fire.

Fire destroyed a detached garage and damaged a Cloquet home nearby on Saturday, July 3, according to a news release from the Cloquet Area Fire District.

Firefighters responded to the property on the 1100 block of North Road at 9:16 p.m. for a fire in a garage. When they arrived, they saw the detached garage engulfed in flames and partially collapsed, the news release said.

The homeowner met firefighters outside and told them everyone was out of the house. No one was injured.

The garage was a total loss. Despite being approximately 30 feet from the garage, the house suffered damage in the blaze, as well. The fire caused siding on the home to melt and window panes to break, but the fire did not extend into the house, the news release said. Two vehicles also sustained heat damage.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
