Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College has been busy over the last year adding sports programs to their campus. As of July 1, the college has two athletic directors who will oversee sports at the school.
Anita Hanson has taken the helm as athletic director for football, volleyball and softball, while Jen McKay is athletic director for men's and women's basketball.
"It's an honor to be a part of our school's history and to be part of the growth of our athletic department ... continuing the process of what Larry Anderson, our administration and our current coaches have started," mentioned Hanson. "We've got talented coaches who are excited about their upcoming seasons and I'm looking forward to working with them. It will be a great experience."
Hanson is a graduate of Cass Lake-Bena High School and was a volleyball star at North Dakota State University where she led her team to a third place finish in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships in her senior season.
"It is an exciting time at FDLTCC," said Hanson. "Thunder athletics has the support of students, staff and faculty along with our community's excitement and enthusiasm. It will be rewarding to be part of what takes place in the future."

McKay, who was also named women's basketball coach last year, graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1997 and played basketball for the University of Minnesota from 1999-2002. For the past two seasons, McKay has been an assistant basketball coach at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
"The commitment the school is making in its athletic programs is amazing, but I am not surprised by it," said McKay at the time of her hiring. "It is the same commitment they give their academic programs and it is why the school is one of the best in the state."
The school offered football and softball during the 2007-2008 school year and will add women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball this year.
