FDL Head Start plans free Community Baby Shower on July 19

The Seventh Annual Community Baby Shower will be held from 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Fond du Lac Head Start building, 33 University Road, Cloquet.

The Seventh Annual Community Baby Shower will be held from 3:30-7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Fond du Lac Head Start building, 33 University Road, Cloquet.

This is a free community event for the FDL Head Start programs and the surrounding community, including all of Carlton County and southern St. Louis County, and is sponsored by Fond du Lac Head Start programs, Min-No-Aya-Win Human Services Center, Carlton County Public Health and Social Services, and St. Louis County Public Health.

There will be light refreshments served.

The event is for dads, moms, young families with preschool children, grandparents, extended families, foster care, day care and FNN families. It focuses on providing information and support to new and expectant mothers and fathers and those planning a pregnancy.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., there will be informational booths, break-out sessions, the Fatherhood Group, and door prizes available throughout the evening. Adults need to attend at least two of the sessions for their names to go in for the big door prizes given away at 6:30 p.m. Some break-out sessions include: infant massage, nutritional activities, breastfeeding, scrapbooking (bring your pictures), Native traditional teachers, and more.

No child care is provided; however, the Fond du Lac Drop In Center is offering child care for children five years and older.
