After a winless season last year, the AlBrook football team is back with a vengeance, winning their third game in a row Friday 20-0 against Silver Bay.
The first half was a war of attrition with neither team seeming to hold an edge until AlBrook's Cody Anderson rumbled in from the 3-yard line to make it 6-0.
"The first half was tough and all defense," remarked AlBrook coach Larry Anderson. "We scored on a long drive in that first half, but the Silver Bay linebackers did a great job of limiting our running game."
The Falcons finally broke the game open with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter. Anderson scored on a 1-yard plunge midway through the quarter and Damontaye Gaines shook loose for a stunning 48-yard touchdown run near the end of the quarter. The Falcons were unsuccessful on their first two extra-point attempts, but Kolton Karppinen finally caught an Anderson pass for a two-point conversion following Gaines' run. That made it 20-0 at the end of the third quarter.
"Our whole defense played a great game and hit hard," recalled coach Anderson. "Our line play in the second half wore them down and I thought Shay Dahl had a great game at defensive end. In all, it was just a great team effort."

Anderson finished with a 5-for-7 passing day with 120 yards and Mike Anderson picked off three passes on defense for AlBrook.
"Mike (Anderson) has a knack for the ball," said coach Anderson of the three interceptions. "He has good speed and he is our deep threat on offense."
The Falcons play Cherry this Friday.
