Esther J. Gleason, 88, of Cloquet, Minn., passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Deerwood, Minn., to Charles and Amelia (Engblom) Peterson. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and reading. Esther especially loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Lynn Gleason Dixon; and siblings, Herbert, Ethel, Helen, Clarence, Margaret and Edward.
Esther is survived by her children, Julie (Richard) Raith of Scotts, Mich., Dale (Cathy) of Duluth, Minn., Clay (Lita) of Baxter, Minn., and Paul (Brenda) of Cloquet; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including Lois Iascone whom Esther thought of as a sister.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 3, from 5-8 p.m. in Handevidt Funeral Home, Cloquet, and continue Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Church, Cloquet. Interment is in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.
