Esther Conklin, 80, of Cloquet, Minn., died Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Suncrest Assisted Living. She was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Steven and Magdalena Palhegyi. She graduated from San Bernardino Senior High School in 1946. Esther married Irving David Conklin III in San Bernardino in 1954. She did secretarial work for title companies in both San Bernardino and Anchorage, Alaska. She was the medical claims adjuster for Teamsters Health and Welfare in Anchorage. Esther attended Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle. She loved sewing, cooking and spending time with family.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Irving, and her son, David.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Bruce) Niemi of Carlton; grandchildren, Joshua Niemi and Michael Niemi, both of Carlton, Stephanie Conklin and Beth Conklin, both of Fallbrook, Calif.; brothers, Arnold Palhegyi of Mohave Valley, Calif., Alex (Leah) Palhegyi of San Bernardino, Louie Palhegyi of Bullhead City, Ariz., and John (Loyce) Palhegyi of San Bernardino; and sister, Helen Hirsch of Sonora, Calif.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in the Fireside Room of Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet.
