Eskomos win two, lose one

Esko took a 46-28 halftime lead and hit nine three-point shots during the game.

Bryan Lindquist and Jeremy Syrjanen each finished with eight points for Esko. It was Cody Townsend and Jake Olson with three points each, while Ryan Eskuri, Andrew Wishnewski and Sam Nigon each had a pair.

An overtime loss and a conference win marked the Esko boys basketball team schedule last week. On Thursday, the Eskomos fell to Duluth Central 68-64 on the road and on Friday it was a 54-45 win over McGregor.

Against Duluth Central, the Eskomos trailed 30-28 at halftime in a game that was back and forth throughout. Both teams were able to hit the three-point shot with the Eskomos making five long-range bombs and the Trojans making seven for the game.

Scott Lindquist led the Eskomos with 30 points and Jake Olson finished with 10 points.

Garth Heikkinen finished with 24 points, John Brakke added 16 and Harden Henry scored 13 points for the Trojans.

Esko outscored the Trojans 31-29 in the second half, but Central eked out the win in overtime.

Also scoring for the Eskomos were Jeremy Syrjanen with nine points, Jake Toman added eight and Micah Tengesdahl recorded six points.

  • On Friday, the Eskomos downed the McGregor Mercuries 54-45 after taking a 27-23 lead at halftime.

Scott Lindquist again was strong with a 21-point effort, Toman added 12, Bryan Lindquist scored eight points, Tyler LeRoux finished with six, Jake Olson added four and it was Syrjanen with three points.
Eric Sather led the Mercs with a 19-point effort.
