Four players scored in double digits as Esko throttled Mesabi East 97-57 in the Section 7AA girls basketball tournament on Tuesday night.

Jade Baxley led the Esko scoring barrage with 16 points and was joined in double figures by Ashley Langila and Jamie Rust with 13 points apiece and Sami Mattson with 12 points.

The Eskomos used superior depth and incredible team speed to handle the Giants. Esko raced out to an early lead and held a 54-35 advantage at halftime.

Mesabi East received strong offensive effort from Alyssa Lund, Kaeley Whiting and Jessie Larson who scored 17, 15 and 13 points, respectively, but the Giants just didn't match up well with the lightning quick Eskomos who were able to rotate 10 players deep on the bench.

The Eskomos made 38 shots from the field compared to 24 for the Giants, and Esko also went to the free throw line 29 times in the game, making 19 of those shots compared to eight for Mesabi East.
