An Esko man was killed in a one-vehicle crash at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Christopher Hammer, 34, died after the vehicle in which he was riding veered off the road at a curve, struck a tree and rolled near the Buffalo House Restaurant and Bar near Proctor.
Cloquet resident Jerry J. Jubie, 37, was reportedly driving south on Guss Road in a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro at the time of the accident.
Hammer was reportedly seated in the back and was not wearing a seat belt.
Jubie was admitted to St. Luke's Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman declined to discuss his condition Wednesday morning.
A second passenger, Scott A. Sertich, 39, also of Cloquet, is listed in fair condition at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Road conditions at the time were dry and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the patrol.
