"Combo Platter," Esko's jazz group, is playing again at Eskomo Pizza Pies in downtown Esko from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7. This group of nine talented high school kids have played several times at the pizza restaurant to big crowds and even bigger applause.
The kids, including Reba Schultz, Phil Wirtz, Jacob Erickson, Raliegh Goessling, Tim Garay, Trey Brademan, Josh Rank, Sam Nigon and Parker Goessling, play classic jazz pieces as well as unique arrangements of modern songs.
"The energy and talent of these kids is amazing," said Eskomo Pies owner Pete Radosevich.
The group has been mentored by Esko music teacher Rich Mowers, who is a jazz musician himself.
"This group is as good as many jazz combos I've seen in much bigger cities," said Mowers. "When each of the kids takes a solo, the crowd goes crazy."
