Sami Mattson hit for 21 points as the Esko girls basketball team throttled Floodwood 78-26 on Friday night.

The 52-point margin of victory appeared almost imminent when the Eskomos raced out to a 47-12 halftime lead. Despite clearing their bench, Esko kept finding ways to score against the Polar Bears.

Also in double figures for the Eskomos was Kelli Rengo with 11 points, but the key to Esko all season has been their balance, depth and ability for any one of a number of players to pick up key baskets when needed. Ashley Langila contributed eight points, Jessica Bergstedt added seven, Kayla Jenkins finished with six, Jade Baxley, Tia Salo and Kaycee Knutson all had four points, Rox Chromy scored three, Jenna Coughlin had a pair of points and Jeris Gellatly and Jamie Rust each scored a point.

Both Dakota Johnson and Kasey Palmer had five points for the Polar Bears to lead them in the scoring column.

The win gave the Eskomos their seventh of the season in as many games and they remain undefeated, 3-0, in the Polar League.
