The annual Esko Fun Day celebration is a whole lot of summer excitement packed into one big day.
Sponsored by the Esko Lions Club, this year's event is slated for Saturday, Aug. 9.
The day will kick off with the 12th Annual Burkholder 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Young and old are invited to take part in this popular family event, dedicated to the memory of Esko's Kristin Burkholder, who lost her life in a car-pedestrian accident.
The run/walk will start and end at the Lincoln High School football field, and runners can pick up registration forms at the Esko Fiteness Center or on the day of the race at the school.
The Esko Educational Foundation sponsors the event, with proceeds going toward scholarships for graduating seniors of Lincoln High School.

Youth Races will also take place prior to the 5K, and those wishing to be spectators will have a fine view of the start and finish by sitting in the belacers at the football field.
There'll be plenty of time to get over to the big Esko Fun Day parade, which will get under way at 11:30 a.m. and run through the middle of town on Highway 61 and north along Canosia Road.
Enjoy lunch at the 23rd Annual Beef Barbeque in Esko's Northridge Park on the Midway River just north of down town, serving from noon to 3 p.m. Prices are $6 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6-10 and a donation for children ages 5 and under.
Then sit back and enjoy the fun and hilarity of the World Famous Duck Races on the Midway River beginning at 1:30 p.m. The lucky "Duck Down Final" winner will take home $150. See members of the Esko Lions Club if you're interested in participating.
Proceeds from the event will go to help fund the Esko Junior High Knowledge Bowl program, with supplemental funds applied for through Thrivent Financial Branch #31299.
