In one of the biggest upsets in local soccer circles in years, the Two Harbors Agates advanced to the Section 7A girls finals by beating No. 1 seeded Esko-Carlton 4-1 Tuesday night.
Despite playing on the road, the Agates seemed undaunted by the huge task of taking on a very good Eskomo squad that finished the season 11-4-3. With a pair of goals from Sis Alvarez, the Agates were able to hold their own against the powerful Eskomos and pull out the victory.
Alvarez scored the only goal of the first half at the 22nd minute mark with Cory Conrow assisting. The Agates led 1-0 at the break.
Sara Skyberg was able to get the Eskomos back into the game on a goal just four minutes into the second half with Amanda Bergstedt picking up the assist, but the Agates answered quickly with a goal by Lacey Myrdal three minutes after Skyberg's goal.
To further the dire situation for Esko-Carlton, just a minute after Myrdal scored, Alvarez made it 3-1 on an assist by Conrow. Seven minutes later it was Sara McDonald putting things out of reach for Esko-Carlton on a goal that was assisted by Conrow.

Johnson made five saves for the Eskomos while Elizabeth Erickson was called on to make 17 saves on 19 shots for the Thunder of Zimmerman.
