Ellison picks up shutout in UMD debut

Former Cloquet-Esko-Carlton goaltender Johanna Ellison transferred at the beginning of the school year from Boston College to UMD. On Sunday, Ellison posted her first win and her first shutout as a Bulldog in UMD's 1-0 victory over Bemidji State.

Ellison was the best high school goaltender in Minnesota for three years running and was named First Team All-State as well as received numerous other awards during her tenure between the pipes in Cloquet. After graduation, Ellison left to play for Boston College, but decided to transfer prior to this season.

Playing at the DECC for the first time since high school, Ellison was called on to make 16 saves for the Bulldogs to preserve the win.

UMD played sluggishly as a team in the win after they had defeated the Beavers 4-0 on Saturday in the opening game of the two-game set.

The win keeps the Bulldogs undefeated on the season at 4-0.
