Ellen Victoria Hecker, 86, of Carlton died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. Ellen was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Brookston to John E. and Anna M. (Paavola) Karki. She attended schools in Brookston and Moose Lake and graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1940. She married John Hecker on Feb. 24, 1944, in the German Lutheran Church in Barnum. Ellen's hobbies included bingo, cribbage, crossword puzzles and dancing.
Ellen is survived by her husband, John W. Hecker of Cloquet; two daughters, Sue (Loren) Kihlstrom and Sheila (Larry) Albright, both of California; grandchildren, Amy (Keith) Firmin of Virginia and Tyler (Jocelyn) Kihlstrom of California; and great-grandchildren, Makena, Jordi, Kaylyn and Kiya.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service in Salem Lutheran Church in Mahtowa. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Barnum.
