The Carlton and Wrenshall school boards have scheduled a joint board meeting July 9 to discuss possible consolidation of the districts.

Wrenshall Superintendent Kim Belcastro and Wrenshall School Board Chair Matthew Laveau met last week with Carlton Superintendent Gwen Carman and Carlton School Board Chair LaRae Lehto to develop an agenda outline for the meeting.

Lehto said the purpose of developing the outline is to provide an opportunity for each member of the boards to speak while also keeping the meeting to no more than about two hours.

The meeting is open to the public, but Lehto said the boards won't allow public comments in an effort to keep the meeting to its two-hour goal.

“We agreed not to have public comments at that meeting because it’s really a chance for the boards to have discussion,” Lehto said.
