The Cloquet School Board unanimously voted Monday, Sept. 28 to set the district’s 2021 proposed levy to the maximum amount allowed by the state.
The levy can be lowered at a later date, but not go above the maximum amount once it is set, said Candice Nelis, business manager.
The levy will increase 2.15%, up slightly from 1.4% the previous year. The 2020 levy was $6.9 million. The 2021 levy is $7 million, a difference of $149,993, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.
“Our goal is to keep the levy numbers consistent,” said Nelis.
The levy made up 16% of the district's 2019 budget.
The Truth in Taxation meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14.
