Fans of Cloquet’s school sports will see a slight increase in gate ticket prices and season ticket prices heading into the fall season.
The Cloquet School Board voted to increase gate ticket prices by $1 for both adults and students at all games except hockey during a meeting Monday, Aug. 12.
Adults will now pay $6 at the gates instead of $5 and students will pay $5 instead of $4. Hockey ticket prices, which had cost $1 more than other ticket prices, will remain the same at $6 for adults and $5 for students.
Season ticket prices for students will increase from $40 to $50 and family passes will increase from $175 to $200. Adult season passes will remain $100.
The ticket price increases come after the board approved five extracurricular positions in July and directed Activities Director Paul Riess and high school principals to explore ways to generate more revenue to off-set costs of the new positions.

High School Principal Steve Battaglia told the board the price increases at the gate will reflect what other schools charge, as it’s been a few years since Cloquet increased its prices.
“It just gets us in line with what is average,” Battaglia said. “We're not excessive — we're not at the top — but this puts us pretty much where everybody else is. Seems to me like a pretty reasonable way to raise a few dollars.”
Riess and the principals chose not to increase activity fees.
