Edna V. Johnson, 87, of Carlton, Minn., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. She was born June 8, 1920, in rural Mahtowa, Minn., to Charles and Alice (Thompson) Chell. Edna was united in marriage to Albin Johnson in Cloquet in 1948. She worked for the Diamond Match Company for 13 years and they also lived in Scanlon for 13 years.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, brothers George, Maynard, Leslie and Vernon Chell, and sisters Ethel Larson, Ellen Lingren, Edith Larson, Elsie Heimsjo, Elaine Thrasher, Esther Bro and Eileen Chell.
She is survived by her husband, Albin; one daughter, Linda (Kenneth) Holmstrand of Cloquet; three granddaughters, Lisa (John) Hecht, Krista (Doug) Steen and Karin (Mike Jr.) Weaver; six great-grandchildren, Kassidy Steen, Josie Steen, Kendra Weaver, Miranda Weaver, Connor Hecht and Laura Hecht; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cloquet, conducted by the Rev. Rollie Bockbrader. Music was provided by Liz Sinisalo. Pallbearers were Edna's nieces, Doris Ward, Donna Illikainen, Sharon Bragge, Rose Pollard, Connie Bergman and Alice Payment. A luncheon reception followed in the church social hall. Interment services were at Mount Salem Cemetery in Mahtowa.
