Edith "Edie" Mary Ehrman, 97, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minn. She was born March 21, 1910, in Cloquet, Minn., to Robert and Marie (Chapados) Ahiers and graduated from Cloquet High School. Edie had worked for Michigan Bell Telephone for a short time and also for Northern Printery for 10 years. She also operated a small corner store in their home on Carlton Avenue from 1950-1960. Edie was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, and was a volunteer for the Apple Cart at Community Memorial Hospital.
Edie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence "Dutch" Ehrman; one daughter, Mary Stolberg; and two brothers, Ernie and Paul Ahiers.
She is survived by one son, Bob (Marlys) Ehrman of Miami, Fla.; one son-in-law, Bill Stolberg of Cloquet; one brother, Bill Ahiers of Carlton; one sister, Edna Smith of Carlton; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation resumed Thursday, Dec. 20, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet celebrated by the Rev. Father David Tushar. Music was provided by Mary Smith. Pallbearers were Bill, Mike and Johnathan Stolberg, Rahal and Nabil Cheikh and Mitch Ahiers. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Parise, Troy Ehrman and Weston Ehrman. Interment services were at New Calvary Cemetery, followed by a luncheon reception in the church social hall.
