The Fond du Lac Reservation Business Committee held its primary election for representatives for District I and District II Tuesday, June 9.
In District I, Wally Dupuis and Jeroam Defoe will move on to the general election in August. Dupuis, the incumbent representative from Cloquet, garnered 193 votes or 49.1% of the total and Defoe finished second with 101 votes or 25.7%, according to preliminary results. Eugene “Eny” Reynolds, Todd J. Tidaback and Jarvis “Chubbs” Paro also ran for the position.
District III will not need a general election after incumbent Roger M. Smith Sr. garnered 68 votes or 59.65% of the total, based on preliminary results. Candidates receiving more than 50% of the vote in the primary avoid a runoff in the general election. Philip Savage and Roberta Fox both ran for the position representing Brookston.
Results for both districts were not official because the General Reservation Election Board has not yet certified the results. The board has until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, to certify the results.
A primary was not necessary for RBC Chairperson. Current Chairperson Kevin Dupuis and Bryan Bosto were the only two people to file for the position.
