Carlton head boys basketball coach Mark Cool has been with the program for the past nine seasons. Last week, the Bulldogs prepared for the playoffs with a 65-49 win over Onamia - and also found out that Cool will resign after the season.
Cool's Bulldogs will step into the playoffs against Cherry on Thursday night in Hermantown.
Against Onamia last week, the Bulldogs held a 28-22 lead and then proceeded to outscore the Panthers by 10 points in the second half, ensuring their victory.
Justin Schwartz led the scoring barrage for Carlton with 15 points while both Chris Domogalia and Josh Dahl added 13 points.
The Bulldogs hit six three-pointers in the game compared to four for the Panthers.

Also scoring for Carlton were Matt Ostby with six points, Mike Lundquist added five and it was four points for Mike Saunders. Travis Gran and Marc Issacson each scored three, Taylor Shanda added two and it was a point for Spencer Thorman.
Onamia was led by the 32 points of Nic Faust.
