The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a dense fog advisory for much of the Northland through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Moist northeast winds off Lake Superior will bring "persistent fog with visibilities of less than a quarter mile at times" to portions of Lake, Cook, St. Louis and Carlton Counties in northeastern Minnesota and Douglas County in northwestern Wisconsin, the weather service said.

Areas where fog lifted Monday will likely see fog develop again overnight, the weather service said.

Forecasters advised careful driving, including using low-beam headlights and ensuring plenty of distance when following other vehicles.
