With four of their five starters returning this year, the Cromwell Cards boys basketball team is looking to make a strong run in the Polar League this season.

"Our only lost starter was Cody Hendrickson, but we also lost Curtis Hakala, John Hedin and Eric Arnold," mentioned Cards coach Bill Pocernich. "All four of them contributed to the team at various levels, but the most important thing they brought was leadership and intensity to every practice and game."

A year ago the Cards went 15-12 overall and they were .500 in the Polar League. This year, barring injuries, the team could be a force led by First Team All-Conference selection Tyler Burggraff. Burggraff averaged 19.1 points per game and eight rebounds a game to lead the Cards. Joining Burggraff will be fellow starters from a year ago, senior Adam Smith and juniors Jordan Smith and Ryan Hutar.

"We also return Jordan Suhonen, Cody Smith and Kyle House," commented Pocernich. "All of those players saw some varsity action off the bench last year."
